Overview

Prunus mume, or Japanese Apricot, is a deciduous tree cherished for its early spring blooms. Typically reaching 15-20 feet high, it presents a stunning display of fragrant pink to white flowers, each 0.75-1 inch in diameter, before leaf emergence. This ornamental tree prefers well-drained soil, full sun to partial shade, and is hardy in USDA zones 6-9. It may yield yellow-red edible fruit about 1-2 inches wide after flowering.
