Warty Barberry

Overview

Berberis verruculosa, or Warty Barberry, is an evergreen shrub reaching up to 3 feet in height and spread. It features textured, warty stems with oval, spiny-toothed leaves, and produces yellow blooms in spring followed by dark berries. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, requires well-drained soil, and offers excellent low hedge or barrier plantings due to its dense, prickly nature. Hardy in zones 6-9.
